What's the Best Anti-Virus Program?

A while ago, I had Norton Anti-Virus (just the basic edition) and my computer got a virus that actually infected the software. I then had to upgrade to the Norton Internet Security software that removed the other virus and has stopped any further problems.

My question is this: what's the best anti-virus program that's out there? And, what's the best one for the price? Norton is $50 for a one-year protection period.

It  changes constantly and you should change compny every year, usually the smaller firms have better programs.
